Privacy policy
Start page with calendar is developed by Serhii Popov (uazure+chrome-start-page@gmail.com). The extension replaces Chrome's new tab page with your upcoming Google Calendar meetings and your bookmarked links. It is built on one principle: your data stays in your browser. The developer operates no server, and no data of yours is ever transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
What the extension accesses
-
Google Calendar (read-only). With your explicit consent, the extension
reads your list of calendars and their events using Google's two narrowest read-only
scopes:
calendar.events.readonlyandcalendar.calendarlist.readonly. It cannot create, modify, or delete anything in your calendar. Authorization uses your Chrome profile's Google account via Chrome's built-in identity system and is only ever started by your own action — never automatically. The extension does not store your OAuth tokens; Chrome manages them. - Chrome bookmarks. The links grid on the new tab page is stored as your own Chrome bookmarks, in a dedicated folder. The extension reads and writes bookmarks only to show and manage that grid, entirely locally.
-
Extension storage. Your settings (theme, locale, visible widgets,
selected calendars, muted events, and optional daily notes) live in Chrome's own
extension storage (
chrome.storage.sync), which Chrome may sync across your signed-in devices. Recently fetched events are cached locally so the page renders instantly. - Site icons. Icons for your links come from Chrome's local favicon cache. Your bookmark URLs are never sent to any third-party icon service.
Where your data goes
The only network requests the extension makes are direct, encrypted requests from your
browser to Google's Calendar API (www.googleapis.com), authorized with your
own token, to fetch your calendar list and events. There are no other endpoints. The
extension contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising code, and no error
reporting to any external service. Nothing is collected.
What the developer never does with your data
- Never sells or transfers your data to anyone — there is nothing collected to sell.
- Never uses your data for advertising, credit-worthiness, or lending purposes.
- Never lets humans read your data — it never leaves your browser in the first place.
- Never uses your data for purposes unrelated to showing your calendar and links on the new tab page.
Google API Services disclosure
Start page with calendar's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data retention and deletion
Everything the extension stores lives inside your Chrome profile. Uninstalling the extension removes its settings, notes, and cached events (bookmarks remain yours, in Chrome, as ordinary bookmarks). You can revoke the extension's access to your Google Calendar at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
